Polar Fishing combines spatial memory with strategic move planning across a grid-based ice field. Each hole presents ice blocks concealing fish underneath. The core challenge: you glimpse fish positions briefly before ice covers them, then must tap squares to break ice and catch targets within limited moves.
The grid structure uses 6 columns by 8-9 rows of turquoise squares. Ice cubes render in full 3D - white with cyan shading showing three visible faces. Fish targets appear as circular icons with color-coded backgrounds and species silhouettes. A vertical moves counter tracks your slice budget, while header objectives specify catch requirements like "Catch 3 of 3" or "fish in colour order".
Star ratings depend on move efficiency. Using fewer slices earns more stars - maximum three golden stars per hole when achieving objectives with minimal waste. The 36-hole progression spans increasing difficulty, introducing multi-colored fish patterns, tighter move limits, and complex memory sequences as you advance through Arctic waters.
Ice blocks conceal fish locations. Remember positions during brief glimpses, then tap accurately to reveal catches. Grid layout demands spatial recall and pattern recognition under move pressure.
Catch targets specify not just quantity but sequence. "Catch fish in colour order" requires strategic planning - break ice following specific patterns to match objective requirements and maximize stars.
Each hole awards up to three golden stars based on move efficiency. Complete objectives with minimal slices for maximum rating. Collect all 36 stars across the full Arctic campaign for mastery recognition.
Every hole restricts available moves - displayed as "Used 6 slices of 8". Plan carefully which squares to tap. Wasted moves cost star ratings even when objectives complete, adding strategic depth beyond simple memory.
Fish variety includes turtles, koi, and Arctic species in vibrant orange, green, purple, and blue. Each level specifies catch requirements - identify targets by circular icon backgrounds and silhouette shapes within.
